“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God.” This is a message for all of humanity and I am delighted to see the Global Youth Challenge taking World Peace as its theme for 2021. We look forward to learning from young people around the world what kind of education they see as a pathway to peace and what kind of leadership will make possible a future that combines peace with equity and justice for our world. I will be honored to serve as one of the judges in this competition!

The disaster brought on by COVID-19 to mankind is far from over, and people have fallen into worrying conflicts. "Empowered young men and women can play a critical role in preventing conflicts and ensuring sustainable peace". This is a saying from Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General. I am delighted to initiate the Global Youth Challenge 2021:World Peace, where we inspire youth around the world to reflect, think, and consider how to build a peaceful world.

This Writing and Speaking Contest consists of a 300-500 word essay plus a one-minute video speech, or a visual artwork plus a one-minute video speech.
Each entry will examine a possible pathway to world peace through the lens of a subject like mathematics, art, history, business, and science.
For example, from a historical viewpoint, one could look at the characteristics of successful peace negotiations between former enemies. Or, a piece of artwork could illustrate an aspect of a peaceful world. Or, a business student might consider the way the world of business might affect peaceful relations between nations. And, not to be left out, science, mathematics, and engineering students are challenged to suggest how these disciplines may also have a role in creating a pathway to world peace.
Chosen finalists will present their entry to a panel of judges for a chance to win:
